Nice guys who run the place, sandwiches and chips that satisfy, $6-8, good stuff
I feel like Empire Cafe will need to up their game because of their nearby competition.

Not bad, but considering what you get for price, I don't see how they can compete with Jimmy John's.
On the plus side, Empire Cafe is open until 3am on the weekends to accommodate the club rush, but the late night menu starts at a $5 PB&J. Yikes. Hopefully those drunk college kids from Bajas won't mind. During the late night they will be competing with McDonald's and Wendy's, which offer much better value.
Personally, I believe there are a few changes that could improve Empire Cafe. I think the menu would benefit from a sandwich and a side coming together. The interior could use some sprucing up as well, it's entirely basic as of now. The location is good, but it is in-between well established restaurants such as Burrito Boarder, Muscle Maker Grill, Los Compadres, Brooklyn Pizza, & others. These places have personality, while Empire Cafe does not. These other restaurants have deals, while Empire Cafe does not.
Empire Cafe is okay. The Cubano & a cookie is a surprising $10, and it's only alright. Not great value for what you get. After enquiring about the seasonal fruit side, the server said nothing is prepared but he could cut some fruit up for us. We felt inclined to opt for another side because of this.
Really amazing service and yummy sandwiches with homemade chips! Quick and in a convenient location, lots of dining room, perfect for breakfast or lunch. Staff is very nice and helpful. Must try!
