Was referred to them for prenatal genetic screening, and didn't like the attitude at all. The lady who performed the ultrasound was super aloof and told my husband to not take any pictures or videos. Not clear why we are not allowed to take pictures of our own unborn child, during an ultrasound that were are paying for. Its amazing how people think its ok to take your money from you and treat you with disrespect at the same time. Later they just sent the results to my obgyn and didn't give me any documentation showing what exactly the results were. Again, my obgyn was not paying for it, I was, but these arrogant medical people just communicate with each other and don't feel like you need to be informed about anything.
All of my fears regarding my baby were addressed, so much so that I no longer feel so worried and anxious about how he's doing in there.
Dr. Dobak is very nice, friendly & knowledgeable, and open to any and all questions. He explains everything so you're never in the dark. That being said, be wary of the niceties. He will quickly charm you into every 2 weeks for appointments after only 2-3 monthly visits. Then you'll be at once a week or even twice a week, when you're not even that frequent with your OB. The problem is he never gives a good, sound explanation as to WHY, esp. since @ every visit he's telling you both you & the baby look perfect & nothing's wrong.
The technician (Donna, blonde hair) was one of the kindest and friendliest we had experienced throughout my pregnancy. She talked us through the ultrasound, and the pictures we got to take home were extremely clear and well-focused.
The one unfortunate thing is that the billing process often seemed shrouded in mystery. We tried several times to figure out what we owed so that we could appropriately pay the difference before our son was born, but were unable to do so. That said, that could be an artifact of our insurance rather than the practice.
The woman at the front desk wasn't the smiling type, but she was very courteous and friendly in her own way.
I had to have a level 2 ultrasound because there was there is an echogenic focus (white spot) on my little one's heart. I was impressed by the level of care and kindness I experienced from Dr. Dobak, and also about how quickly we were in and out of the office (about an hour, even with new patient paperwork).
Also, billing is often confusing; the ultrasound lady (dark hair) seems very incompetent; & the young lady @ check out never smiles, always exudes attitude & rolls her eyes when her coworkers get anything "wrong".
Overall, I would highly recommend any concerned parent-to-be at least go for a consultation and discuss risk factors and potential issues. We derived a lot of comfort from the ability to periodically check on our son's growth and access to more detailed ultrasounds.
After my wife was found to have abnormal afp during a pre-screen, we began seeing Dr Hume fairly regularly. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and was able to navigate difficult conversations with a confidence that was, for lack of a better term, infectious. The staff was very, very accommodating, and seemed to remember us each visit even though they clearly see dozens of people a day.
