Great school, you should go here because it has a lot of advantages for your life. Such as the IB program which can benefit you later because if you follow on to Rickards High School then it will be easy for you to get into the IB program there. I really like their education methods and way of teaching. Fairview is a great school and I would go there other than any other middle school. Join MATH CLUB and BRAINBOWL because those are my favorite clubs. BRAINBOWL AND FAIRVIEW MATH SQUAD FOR LIFE.
This school is ONLY a good school if your child is apart of the IB program. General population is horrendous! The kids are a bunch of thugs!! My daughter was bullied REPEATEDLY at this school. Also, my daughter and I alerted adminstration on SEVERAL occasions.. Staff did the very minimum to assist! One day after alerting adminstrators ONCE DAY of the threats she had received she was still send back to collect her belongs ALONE. After JUST expressing that the area was unsafe!! It ultimately resulted in a fight and she was given 3 days suspension and was given the option to be arrested of given 30 hours civil service.. We are speaking a child who has never EVER had any prior disciplinary history. I approached school officials to have the civil service hours removed they determined the consequence was just even after THEIR negligence. Apparently, she needed to be greatly harmed or killed before be they felt the need to do something. Also, the school resource officer Shalanda Scott who "claims" to know everything that takes place on the campus is extremely unaware, ghetto and walks around threating to arrest kids and gossiping all day. Save your babies! Take them elsewhere. These people are don't care!
If you are not going to be in the IB Magnet Program, do not go to Fairvie Middle School. I am in the IB Program and they do treat us differently but only because, in my opinion, we are more respectful. I do not want to sound like I'm saying we are better than the general kids. I know some general students who are just about as respectful as you can get but there are some general kids... I went to a general class one time. It was an 8th grade class and they were reading a book that we read in 6th grade. I wanted to laugh until i saw them reading and the boy reading couldn't read the word "photograph." Keep in mind that he was in the 8th grade.
Do NOT send your child to this school where instructors look down upon the children here and are RUDE to parents. The instructors can not articulate a complete sentence, specifically my sons homeroom teacher. I was even yelled at by a Ms. Durant for questioning her about refusing food to my 11 year old child. My child was penalized because I complained to administration about his teacher and was forced to endure an in school detention. I had to send three emails, the final email threatening to contact the county and DOE if no one responded, however contact has already been made. I have yet to communicate with the principal. I have witnessed the manner in which the children are treated and it appears as if they do NOT care about the well being and education of these children. Let's be 100% clear, this school is primarily minority children of color who are treated as second class and as if they do not matter. As a parent who values education with multiple college degrees I find it highly unacceptable the manner in which this school operates. It is so bad that I am in process of locating a different school for my son. I do hope the issues at this school are remedied with educators who actually "care" about children, regardless of ethnicity. They will deny the racial caste bias I have exuded however, the truth is the truth. If i could have rated -0- stars I would have but I had to at least rate 1 star.
Fairview has is made up of the words, fair, and view. It provides a fairview of the world around you... Also there are good teachers you should join brainbowl, cuz the Brain Bowl teachers are cool. biology , and us history are great.
