I went to test drive some cars accompanied by my dad, who gets energized over finding the best deals in the car world. (The search has the opposite affect on me.) The owner seemed nice and helpful and informative that first day. We test drove two Chevy Sonics. They were in good condition but didn't have the caliber and dependability I was looking for bc I was heading across country. We eyed the Prius and mentioned we might return to drive that one bc I was particularly interested in Priuses. (What can I say, I'm moving to California.)
Yeah, I probably will stick with dealerships from now on, and make sure I check Everything. . . I won't be in a rush and gosh darnit...my next vehicle will have a warranty.!
I bought a 2012 Ford Focus from Kareem. This is my second car from him and I had zero issues. If there is an issue, he will fix it no ifs, ands or buts about it. Really cool dude! I will be getting my future cars from him!
Oh, and the battery we paid for extra when we bought the vehicle was a Cheap recycled battery which has caused the vehicle to die numerous times. Yeah, I had to buy a new one of them too.
When I returned after two days, still hot on the trail, I hopped out of the car-my dad was on the phone- and greeted the owner warmly and asked if I could take the Prius for a spin. He turned and curtly replied, "When will you be buying the car? When will you buy?" His tone and insistence took me aback. This was a different person than the man I talked to the other day. I fumbled a reply. "I-I don't know, I've really wanted to get a Prius I just-." He interrupted. "This is a busy time. We are not a franchise dealer where you can just come and drive cars all day long." I was a little dumbfounded. Maybe he had me confused w another customer. I had driven two versions of the same car that Tuesday for a total of twenty minutes! He went on, "I ensure all of our cars are in good condition. I test drive them, inspect them, and know you will get a good car, do you follow?" He said this all in a bizarre, rude tone as if i were a child chastised for trying to take father's car out without permission. Usually if a stranger is rude to me in public, I'm a bit speechless. But this just didn't make sense. I responded politely but firmly, "No I do not follow. I will not buy anything that I do not get a chance to drive. Nor will I rush to purchase a car when I haven't done my due diligence." Now he looked a little taken aback. Maybe bc I am a young woman and had been so accommodating before, he wasn't expecting me to have a retort. I don't know, I can't guess his motivations. But his manner changed to one of begrudging respect and he went to get the key. Then the old veneer returned and when my dad got out to join me, the owner was friendly as ever. He was trying to sell cars now.
A month after, it started acting up and shaking...had to buy new coIL packs and plugs....then, not even a month after that, my fiance and my 3 kids were headed to pick me up from work and THE DRIVE SHAFT FELL OUT. ..almost causing the vehicle to flip. I literally got it back maybe a week ago after it sat in the shop for almost 3 weeks ...they also fixed some other problems including the catylac converter. .. One thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Four bucks.
The staff here at 27 Auto Sales are very nice, down to earth, honest people; there is variety to pick from in their vehicles! (New & old) While I like all of the staff, my favorite staff is Kareem. I don't regret my decision to buy from 27 Auto Sales. :-)
A commendation in their favor: The son seemed very nice, no frills and down to earth. He may be a co-owner. The antagonist in my story was his father.
Well, to begin with, the guy there told me about it, then told me they wouldn't lower the price and pretty much blew me off...I'm a woman, not stupid. I do know a good bit about vehicles , except for some reason, my mind wasn't even working that day. My fiance actually was able to talk him down to a decent price. . . But still almost 5k. When I started driving it home, it was pulling really bad to the right..okay..needs an alignment. Went 3 days later to get an alignment at a shop which is so busy I wound up leaving...well I went through 3 front tires before I was able to get THE FRONT END DONE ...new cv joints, new axle... but according to the dealership originally "it was in excellent condition " Over $600 not including the 3 tires. . oh, and also to say..the air didn't work (I bought it when it was still fairly cool) ..yes, stupid me...put R134A in it...air conditioner worked (only while driving, stopped when idle) for about 3 months...
Regardless of his attitude, the Prius wasn't such a great deal. They kept saying it was the best deal in town. We drove to Frank Risech's on Tennessee St and found a Prius for the same price that was two years newer and 40k miles less than at 123 Dealers. Frank's had amazing service and were, by contrast, classy and professional.
I originally drove to Tallahassee to look at a vehicle at a dealership I couldn't even find and quickly looking and finding 27 Auto Sales. Me and my fiance found a Dodge Durango which is what I was originally looking for. . . Well, dumb us, we were in such a hurry and they were about to close I bought it cash.
Great service and extremely friendly! Highly recommended to anyone looking for a vehicle. Very reasonable prices as well!
So if you have no time on your hands and have made it through this entire review (I don't have much on mine but I must say it's been cathartic to write it out) I would not recommend this place. Even a used car dealership, an establishment not known for celebrating its customer appreciation, can drive people away (pardon the pun) when its managers treat people w disrespect. The inconsistency in his behavior and manner did not lend credibility to the integrity of his character nor the dependability of the vehicles on his lot. Go to Frank's instead!
I wish I had the same experience as some of the reviewers on here. But I fear the owner's alleged kindness was a ploy and not a mark of character. It misled me too at first.
