we bought all the filled bags and one hundred empty bags at prices comparable to the big box stores, who only had fifty pound bags of construction sand--which is maybe cleaner--in less durable clear plastic bags for higher prices. The big box stores did not have any empty sand bags at all.
Tim in sales helped me understand that a concrete riprap wall length in feet by height in feet X 1.5 was the number of 80 pound bags of dry rip rap needed. the yard man, Michael, loading the sandbags with a forklift, was every bit as nice and helpful. Knowledgeable and helpful and nice even though our order was small.

Until summer, this is apparently the only source of sandbags in the Tallahassee area. Our road was threatened by runoff overtopping it. We needed two hundred filled sand bags. Gadsden county emergency management had no empty bags and a small reserve--of 140 filled sand bags--which they could only release during a declared emergency.
